Insight Mapping Update Now Available for
Select Lowrance HDS Insight USA and
Nautic Insight Users

Applicable Product: HDS Insight USA and
HDS Nautic Insight
models

Dear Colleague,
An Insight Mapping Update is now available to select consumers
who purchased HDS models with built-in Nautic Insight or Insight
USA mapping. These consumers are eligible to receive a FREE
Insight SD card with updated mapping information.
Due to a change in mapping vendors, Insight Map Versions 3.0
and 3.3 did not include the same level of mapping detail included
in previous Insight versions. An improved version of the mapping
information is being released to update the areas impacted by this
change.
Lowrance is providing this SD card with updated map details only to consumers who
purchased HDS units with embedded Nautic Insight or Insight USA mapping versions 3.0
or 3.3. This SD card will need to remain in the unit during operation in order to read the
new mapping information.
You do NOT need this update if:
• Your unit is not an HDS Nautic Insight or Insight USA unit
• Your Insight chart information is earlier than 3.0 (see Eligibility)
• You rely primarly on Navionics, LakeMaster or Fishing HotSpots for mapping

Eligibility: To determine if you are eligible for an Insight card upgrade perform the
following steps on your HDS unit:
• Press the MENU key twice, scroll to System and press ENTER, scroll to About
and press ENTER.
• If the Lowrance chart indicates Nautic Insight 3.0 or 3.3 or Insight USA 3.0 or
3.3, you are eligible to receive a free SD card with updated mapping information.

To request your free update card (includes shipping):

Please email le-support@navico.com with the Subject line: Insight Mapping Update.
Include in the body of the email, the following information
• Name
• Address
• Product model
• Product serial number
• Valid daytime phone

authorization number on line at: http://www.lowrance.com/Support/My-Account/.

Sure...Call me Bill and I will deliver and install too for free!

I have had a couple of calls and it made me think of something to share as some one asked if this new Insight chart was better than Navionics? The short answer is NO....

Absolutly not... It is better than what came on the units but if you are on a "surveyed lake" Navionics is the best available. The maps are free so I recommend getting your free copy as a back up at a minimum.

BTW...one thing that I have noticed is that lots of guys don't "turn on" their safety contours when using Navionics Premium or Platinum (THIS IN ONLY AN OPTION WITH NAVIONICS...YOU WILL NOT EVEN SEE IT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A NAVIONICS CHART IN AND SELECTED). You can hit menue 2X then go to Charts then Chart Options then Settings and choose your choice of one of the four settings...6 feet, 18 feet, 30 feet or 60 feet. By selecting one of the 4 everything from that depth shallower will be one of 2 shades of blue and everything deeper will be white. This is a great way to target depth at a glance. If you need help with this shoot me an email or call and I will be glad to help. I use 30 feet most of the time myself.

Thanks for the info Bill. I see a 10 in my near future.

Question: Is the internal antenna for the GPS affected any when the unit is flush mounted in the console?

Nope and from what I have seen the unit does just fine when under a T-Top. The antenna is an automotive type like what is on the car GPS units.
