Was finally in town for a weekend and was able to get out there yesterday--- a slow start after a way too fun night at a neighbor's octoberfest/ homebrew festival....'nuf said

Looked all over the south end-- 3 sisters, cocktail, 2 mile and finally settled in at 6 mile to get some baited lines in the water (trolled the u-rig for a while in the above areas w/ no success). There were some fish at 6 mile-- scattered and in various depths of water. Caught a number of small stripes downlining with a few 7-10 lbrs in the mix, but nothing very large or very frequent. Every fish was caught at 30 ft depth--- tried several other depths and only that one worked. Really just hung around there and missed and caught for a few hours and called it a day as the pleasure boat traffic picked up.
No top-water action to speak of; saw a lot of live-liners with nothing being caught by that strategy, so i stuck to the down-lines. As i said: that worked, but it was slow (a LOT of lookers). Water temp was 63 at the lowest and was 65 where we were catching (late morning, early afternoon--- sunny and clear with generally 1-2mph wind)
