Does anyone know if the agreement the corps had with the 1071 Coalition & Lanier Association is still in effect? If I remember correctly back in the spring of 2008 these parties agreed to bring the lake up 2 extra feet beyond full pool. I will try and search for the stories from that time and post a link.

With more rain headed this way, 1-3 inches (locally heavier in the N.GA mountains) we could see 1070 or higher by Monday. With the pattern we're in there should be no problem getting the lake to full pool by mid October.

If this is the case and they do take it higher does anyone know how this would effect fishing. The first thing I can think of is it will be real hard to find places to pull planers close to the bank.

**Edit**
Here's a couple links.
Water levels should rise.
Proposal to Raise Lake Lanier Water Levels

After a bit of searching I can't find anything that says the corps agreed to this only that it is a proposal in place.

That would take a lot more rain than what we have gotten. 1071 just started last December, and i seriously doubt that the corp would enter into an agreement with them on anything, ever. The corp is bound by the rules set 40 years ago and wont change them without congressional legislation or some sort of temporary agreement with the states like they had this spring to reduce outflow. They were still dumping water as downstream was flooding. But who knows stranger things have happened.

I am a board member of the LLA. We have requested the Corps. consider raising the full pool level to 1073. The response was typical. We will study your proposal for several years and get back to you..C King Six Mile Creek
