Looks like Lanier is above average for the first time in a long time.
I don't think I've ever seen a one day change this large.

Hey Jim,
When I checked that same site this morning.. the lake was over 5.5 feet from full pool.. goes to show how much rain we are truly getting..

Anyone able to do the math of how much water it would take to bring the lake up a foot??

The Corps seems to be trying to empty out the lake considering how much they are dumping over the dam. With all the rain south of us why can't they let Lanier come up to full pool? If it weren't for all this heavy rain the lake would still be going down.

@Baklash If you look at the numbers for the last several days they have been letting of the lowest minimum out flow they can to run the turbines. That's in the mid 600cfs, witch is what they were doing all of late winter through April when the lake came up.

Has anyone been near Morgan Falls dam? I'll bet that place looked pretty different than normal yesterday afternoon! I'd love to see a picture.

Marc,

the lake has risen ~3ft since it started raining last week; they're saying a rough average of 20 inches of rain since then. I suspect water is still flooding in from all the drainage that ends up in lanier, so my guess is we'll be likely to hit full pool by the end of the week, even if it doesn't rain as much. I doubt the corps will increase releases much when there's already flood stages downstream, so it should continue to build.

No more grinding hulls on shore rocks at the ramp this winter!!
