Somedays, everything goes your way. That was yesterday when Dan, Pat, and I rolled out the Sea Pro to meet the challenge of the mighty striper. For most of us, it's a big challenge right now because some fish are shallow and some are deep. Normally the fish win but yesterday their luck ran out as we went through eleven dozen herring to boat over 35 quality fish. My best day on Lanier!

At 10:30 or so yesterday morning, we were working on a ten to fifteen fish day when we got the call that one of the big pockets on Lanier was full of suspended fish. In seven minutes or less, we had one of those babies on and the rest of the story is history. After returning from the bait store with a new batch of herring, they were still there waiting on us!

So, yeah, the importance of a good network cannot be over-emphasized. The reality of freshwater fishing is that each day can be (and often is) different. Out this morning with the Dan & Vic Team. Maybe some of my luck will work today?

Another great day Tom. I too had a similar day. I had some morning chores to do and got out about 8:30. I got into fish pretty hard by 9:30. I fished alone, and was forced to fish with 1 rod due to the activity. I was part of the network yesterday in the one area. I boated fish in the 28 to 30" range. Caught a bunch power reeling slow. Boated 20 Stripers.

Saturday a different story. I caught 6. The biggest was 23". I did the same thing in the same places. I got shopped to death. Marked schools of fish that never turned on. Spent a lot of time driving and looking. The Stripers were not aggressive like yesterday. But days like Friday is what keeps us coming back.

Tom, We may not have had the numbers of your previous day, but when it gets truely tuff, and with a passing front, and the fish not wanting to feed, The mark of a great capt. is can we still prevail?

Well folks with that said, Tom and my wife Jan and I in fact put together a few very good fish today in order to win our club Toruney.

This is funny in the fact that all our fish came today in places not even fished the previous day. We tried all areas from the day before and NADA, but as we pressed on, we eventually found some new fish that were not necessarily wanting to feed either, but we kept at it, with tons of shopping mall fish, with no credit cards!!!LOL

I appreciate Tom turning over the control of the boat to me, as he and my wife did the catching today! I can only hope that you had some fun just doing the fishing, and sorry for the stabbed toe, when one of the big fish we were taking a picture of on the board, flopped and stabbed the dorsal fin his big toe "OUCH"!!!

Between kicking the T-Top post and getting stuck Tom may soon be the only Captain on the water wearing STEEL TOW BOOTS!!! LOL

As fate would have it, a few good fish of the day finally bit us and the rest is history.

I would like again to thank Tom for a most pleasurable day on the water, and this my friends is why I love to fish.

Good pictures Bigun, Looks like they were on a deep point. Thanks also for not fuzzing up the back ground. It's apparent where you were fishing but this site is all about sharing and helping. I've never understood the pictures with the distorted backgrounds. Like the fish will be there forever and they don't want anyone else to see where they're at. Capt. Clay is a great example with sharing and developing this site. We all need help every once in a while. Thanks again.

I think the only reason people don't share EVERYTHING is because they don't want to give a good report then find their honey hole being overtaken by 10 boats the next time they hit the water. It's nothing personal, just not something anyone wants to brodcast every post.

Agreed Marc, there are lots of people registered on this site who never contribute a single post, so you could indeed be inundated with boats if you give an exact location. Sharing's a 2-way street IMHO. The best way is to fish with as many folks on the site as you can and get to know them personally then if you need to share, it's as easy as a cell phone call.

Tom and Dan the man, Thanks for for sharing the great reports. Congrats to all of team T D and J on the win. I know Tom enjoyed fishing and that says a lot about you Dan. Had to be fun.
Do they make steel toed flip flops? Sounds like a new Jimmy Buffet song. And hey guys, how DO you fuzz up the background? D'Oh!

Some people have been on this board for years and only have 2 fishing reports, none with pictures, or any specific information about where they were fishing. I guess they don't get out very often.

It reminds me of the old "give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime" proverb. Details about locations are the giving, details about how you caught them are the teaching.

There is something to be learned even in a bad days report. It is a rather sad fact that about 5% of the members here contribute to about 95% of the content.

Sorry about the grouchy post, i'm in a bad mood smirk

No problemo, I may be in that 10% that post only when I go. I live on the lake but have a lot of irons, that I try to keep in the fire. Don't want to start one of those big debates. I appreciate all the reports and info. Like to have fun too.

Tom, nicely done. You sure have been on your "A" game, lately.

Breese, there is a rogue team of boaters who read this site. These boaters are not fisherman, instead are angry pleasure boaters looking to rid Lanier of us. Beware of what you post, and where you post it...they are watching us..............

As for the rest of you, I want all of your honey holes, techniques, secrets to catching, how to bait a hook, economics of fishing...please, thank you. Just send them all via PM.

Your friendly neighbor,

SKIFFYA
