Skunked again, for the third time in a row. I was doing so good at the end of winter and the beginning of spring and thought "this aint hard" but now I'm enjoying a huge slice of humble pie. What makes it's so bad is everyone saying "it's not gonna get much easier". Since the fish have moved off to deeper water I've been riding around randomly drowning bait, and getting sunburned. I think I'll hire a guide, this is just to depessing to have happen over and over.

What kind of sonar do you have? Are you relying on it, or are you "guessing" where to fish?

Shep,

Don't feel bad, i don't think we are quite at the can't get much easier stage yet, but it's close. You have probably heard this before, but don't drop baits unless you are marking fish. Mix your depths up when you are just marking a few, and don't be afraid to drop to the bottom if it's clean. If your moving with your downlines out, do it slow. I see folks "downlining" with the trolling motor so high that they lines are at a 45 to the water. The other thing is to change baits often and get them down fast.

Don't get discouraged Shep. I promise you that any good fisherman on this forum has had days like you, it's just part of the addiction. It would be a great idea to get out with a guide, but whatever you do.. don't give up! Once you move past the dryspell you are in, you will be more fired up than ever about fishing!

Thanks for the encouraging words, I know it's temporary, but it's still aggravating. I'll never quit, probably could'nt if I wanted to.

shep, The advice Brett gave is spot on. I'm trying to slow down.
I have been fishing this lake since 1980 and have learned more on this forum in the past couple of years than I forgot all those years, not sure what that means, but keep reading and learning and going. I am the worst about staying in an old spot too long or not changing bait enough.
I'll make copies of posts and put them in my red 3 hole binder, the day before I go, I also make notes on my map when I catch fish. If you are thinking of a guide Capt Clay is a great one. My freind Tom on here is also top shelf.
