Hi all.

I live and work near Lanier Park and tried fishing from the bank there today. I had one bite on a Zara Spook (White Pearl). I am sure the 20 MPH winds had something to do with that.

Has anyone fished from the bank here with any success and which side of the park produces? I am dying to watch my two boys catch their first spot. A striper would be nice, but as a bank fisherman I understand the odds. Maybe I am at the wrong park. I am willing to try Buford, Shoal Creek, Van Pugh, Old Federal. Does it really matter which park due to being limited to the bank?

I am strictly using heddon zara spooks, texas rigged finesse pumpkin worms, and zoom flukes in all white.

Is my best bet in the morning and deeper water? If so what depths? I cannot find any topo maps of the lake and its hard to tell from the bank..

I really need to just book a guide I guess,lol.

I'm just hoping someone here can help guide me to some spots for me and my boys here on the south end. I keep coming home empty handed.

Hey Bass,
I've had some pretty good luck from Lanier Park. I usually use live bait, and fish from the point just out from the boat ramp. If you pick up just a standard Lanier map (you can get one at almost any bait shop, or BPS) with the Southern Enlarged, it will give you depths and show some good parks. I have the waterproof one and it has everything you could need on it.

I have had better luck from Lanier park in the evening. I don't know if it's because it's so close to the main lake that the water temp stays pretty consistent or what. It seems like you are only using artificials, so you may want to get some feedback from some of the bass guys, but honestly I've had spots hit just about anything I've thrown.

If you are heading back to Lanier Park anytime soon, when you go in, take a left into that little area with the covered picnic tables.. keep going out to that point, and you will see what I am talking about. That point drops off pretty steep and has produced a lot of fish for me.

What live bait works best from there? I don't want to spend a ton on blue backs just to have them die with no live-well. Would spot tails work on a drop shot rig from that point? What setup has created success for you from there? (if you are willing to share your secrets)

Is it the point with all the large rocks right next to the island(at the very end-tip of the park), with the flat sand bed in between? We tried that yesterday because I thought that would be a great spot for the fish to transition from deep to shallow grounds. It was just to windy...looked like the Atlantic

I will be heading to the park every morning and evening I can this summer. The boys love spending time fishing. Plus there is no traffic and crowds...
