Alright now, I've been fishing since I was a little girl. I'm 18 now... and I have no registered fishing boat. Now, I fish off of the docks at Sunrise Cove Marina. I am a catch and release weekend angler. My dad has a sailboat there, and the guards don't mind me fishing off the gas dock after store hours. They're concerned about the heavy traffic during the day and they have good reason. But I've worked that entire marina and I've noticed that there are no good points deep enough where I can run a rooster tail without catching a vein of quartz.

I need a change in scenery. I don't have a boat, but my Toyota Camry has a seat that folds down in the back letting me carry all of my rods and tackle without fear of a lose hook when I hit a bump.

I'll fish for anything. I'm a go getter, I really am. And I don't get a lot of Crappie action that far down the lake. I've always heard that they're towards the north side of the lake. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I love a good fighting fish and have currently fallen in love with that faithful spotted bass. They are so much fun to catch, so... with ALL of that said, Any ideas?

2determined, There are many spots you can go and catch spots as well as stripers until it gets to much hotter.

You can go to Van Pugh, or Old Federal ramp or Vans Tavern ramp lots of these ramps have beaches and coves with some good water in them. You could even get a bucket of shiners and pitch them in the deep water over a cork and catch some nice fish. I have seen plenty of people at Old Federal. There is a creek right here and it has good water.

Dont' give up dig around and drive to some of the ramps with parks and check them out. hope this will help, and most of all keep it up you will win.

Should be able to texas rig some green pumpkin plastic worms around the marina and catch some spots. USe about a 3/16oz bullet weight and a 1/0 offset worm hook and a zoom finesse green pumkin plasitc worm. I would dare to say more bass have been caught on this old faithful worm than any other artificial on Lanier.

Most of the ramps have fish near them but around the ramp and dock at Vann's Tavern there are probably more spots, small stripers and bluecats than anywhere else. Many of the striper captains release leftover bait there and it drives the spots crazy. I agree with Clay's worm set-up but my favorite worm is the Zoom U-tail Junebug colored worm. It has by far caught many more fish for us. We would be happy to take you out for a free trip on our striper boat to see how you like that type fishing and you need only tell your friends about us. Thanks

Thank you so much guys! Capt., thank you for giving me new options for my marina, and I will definately hit Van's Tavern and Van Pugh. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated and I'll be sure to stock up on the items suggested. I've been using blue worms with a bullet weight and caught a few that way, but if green's the way to go, I'm all over it!

Thank you all for your suggestions. They have been noted, and set at the top of my priority list.

And I might just take you up on that offer, Fourseasonfish. We shall see, I wish I could say definately, but schedules are tight. I'm sure you all know what I mean. But my line's getting wet today, and I really appreciate the feedback!

The greens usually work better for the spots and the darker colors tend to be better for the largemouths. I also like the junebug up the lake in the more stained water.

Lanier park is also a great place to bank fish. There is A TON of room to walk around the shore, and the water gets pretty deep (about 50-60') right off the point across from the boat ramp. I have caught a many a spot and even some kitties from this point (which is now kind of an island), but have also caught a few stripers. It's off the main channel enough to avoid the pleasure boaters. Only down side might be location, it's on the other side of the lake. It's actually a great little park for bank fishing, and there haven't been that many people the times I went.

Good Luck.

Used to be on B-dock at Sunrise, can't remember the slip number, but about a third of the way down on the left we used to pull them out one after another. On a small grub or dollfly. Straight down between the dock and the front of the houseboat. Lot's of Christmas tree's were sunk there years ago.
