Went on the pontoon again on Thursday. It was the day we had 40MPH winds....I know....stupid right? Not to the fish...we tore em up! I caught 12 and my buddy caught 9. Nothing under 12 inches, and the biggest was about 15 inches.
We floated from Abbots bridge to Jones Bridge, but caught everything between abbotts and Medlock. We stopped fishing and tried to move a little faster to beat the sun. My buddy was in a float tube and I think he was close to hypothermia. I caught mine on small brown trout lures, and he used a rainbow pattern rooster tail. Needless to say, he bought a pontoon today.

That sounds awesome, Crash. Thanks for the report. Note to self -- skip the float tube and go straight for the pontoon.

I Took my boy to Jones Bridge today and the water was crystal clear... We didn't get to fish too much because he is only 5 and a little light in the pants for wading (although we tried!) There was one fellow throwing what looked to be a Rapala or some sort of minnow lure and I didn't see him catch anything but he had a couple of monsters on his stringer. The boy and I only got two today.

-Charles, your right about the tube...forget it and get the pontoon!

Crash, do you ever cast those Swirley Birds made by Bill V?

Can't wait till the warm weather comes. I always enjoy that cool chattahoochee river breeze, on those scorching summer days.

Skiffya,
No, I don't know what you are talking about, but if you tell me where I can get them will be by the weekend! I used to fly fish, and then I got lazy and went to bait fishing in the mountain stocked creeks, and now someone turned me on to spin casting and I am in love... Of course, when the lake gets in better shape I will be back to striper fishing I am sure. Maybe not, it is just so beautiful out there on the rivers.

Here you go. They cast very well on light spinning gear.
