I attended the meeting this evening tonight at LLI. It seems like these guys are a little more serious about diligently, methodically, and scientifically attacking the water situation and water war with Alabamastan and Floridastan than the Lake Lanier Association has been able to do. I did not see many familiar faces in the standing room only meeting in one of the large conference rooms at the lodge, but hopefully someone else from the board was there. You can learn more about the 1071 Coalition here.

Look at the water used from Lanier for Atlanta vs. what flows downstream

Look at the drainage basin that feed lanier vs. what is collected downstream.

Lanier collects about 6% of the drainage of the Chattahoochee river basin. At many times it has been supplying over 90% of the water going into Apalachicola Bay. There is something way out of wack about that.

Something I've never understood: how is it that the reservoirs downstream of lanier can be maintained at full pool, while Lanier is constantly being drawn down to provide water downstream of the other lakes? Wouldn't it be wise this year to decrease lanier's outflow to provide some refilling/recapture, while allowing some drawing down of the other lakes downstream to maintain flow? Seems like some balance of this could allow for some level of refilling Lanier in advance of the summer crisis that's around the corner?! Am I missing something? Or does the the head of the COE have a lake house on Westpoint?

It doesn't make sense. But the COE is following the rule book the federal government supplied them with. It is the federal government that is going to have to change the rules not the corp. Maybe Obama will look out for us poor ignorant gun and god clinging rednecks before the muscles in ACB....... naahhh

not sure why isaakson and chambliss can't pull some weight on this-- it's not asking to stop the flow, just change the way it's regulated-- where have they been on this???

Read the info on the website and you will find the answer to your questions. GA is outnumbered by FLA and AL from a legislative standpoint with the federal government. It's like the old "two wolves and one sheep deciding what to have for dinner" analogy.

I'm not sure if everyone knows that a number of the lakes (shown on the map) downstream are actually Georgia Power lakes and are maintained at full pool. I belive that these are not subject to COE or the same government regulations as Lanier. Great data shown on the graphs. Looks like the downstream watershed provides most of the volume not Lanier. Capt. Dave Bush, aboard the "Lady Rose".

Which lake on the Chattahoochee water shed is Ga power. I think you are confusing Oconee or Sinclair, which are not shown on the map
