Where are your priorities? You've been off to Texas instead of scrubbing the bottom of that Hawk right now? If you want the striped pig you must scrap the bottom of river Daniel son....you will eventually come to area where large fish live.

You guys are supposed to fix the power lines not film them.

I went up there earlier and John wasn't there. Guess he went fish hunting...

Texas...I was ready to get back to Georgia after the first few days. We slept in a U-Haul storage building, trucks, tents etc...
We were warned about Mosquitos the size of Wasps...one guy got carried away in his sleep...never saw him again. Finally got to see a Hotel room on Friday, and what a relief it was to see. Glad to be back home.

I might be scraping for some on Friday. Def. need to get out ASAP before I go CRAZY!!!

The fixing is the hard part...closing the switch to energize the line is the easy part, however, sometimes I get that GUT FEELING that something bad is about to happen. Glad I had a camera handy...that Arc had an arm almost 10ft. long!

John is closed down my friend :(. The club and the tournaments are still going though.

If the Core would have gone through with the "Four Ramp Project," we might not be in this situation. Not sure why they did not, but it would have really helped the folks on the East Side.

Good to hear we will be going forward with the meetings. Might even participate in the next Tourney.

That's it Brett. I'm really getting concerned about our local fishery, tackle shops, guides etc...

I'm sure John will be back in the future...I hope.

The drought has a tight grip on us. The lack of fuel and heavy prices are not helping either. It's amazing how bad things have gotten lately...and right before elections.

I'm sure there would be some people complain about spending over a hundred thousand dollars on the boat ramps when there are so many other economic problems, but I wish they would've proceeded with the ramp extensions also. A lot of people don't take into consideration of what's to come, just what's in the now.........it's bad now and there has been some panic, but things will bounce back, it's just what WILL happen.

Besides a few days or so, fishing has been good and will continue to be. There shouldn't be a problem with the fishing guides and other tackle shops getting into serious trouble. Let's face it...nobody is as booked as they want to be - Bill Clinton ain't in office no more (just kidding Republicans, just kidding).

John Bowen is not a good guy, he's a hell of a guy and a real pleasure to do business with. He's retired and shutting his bait shop down did not destroy him because he shut it down before it did.....he'll be back and I'll be ordering it up from him when he does.

Lack of fuel, high gas prices, etc, etc.......those are just some of the things that make us, "us". We've been through it before, came out, and been on top - we'll come out of it this time on top too........it'll just be a little while.

I heard a rumor that there is going to be another bait store opening on the southeast side of the lake. It always sucks when an outdoor business goes under. Is all of Oakwood closing or just the bait store?

On the up side to John's temporary vacation, he should have no reason not to visit some of those fishing holes he's been yapping about.

Depending on who it is, I wish them luck. I can't see how there is that much room for another southend bait store. North or midlake I can see, but there seems to be plenty of competition on the southend. If you read certain fishing reports from certain people you will see what I mean. Certain people just "couldn't have done it without a certain bait store's bait and advice" and "they sure wish they had that kind of service around the lake they usually fish at". It's almost like hearing a Nascar driver speak about his car......he's got a lot of description to give before he gets to Cheverolet or Ford.

I was told the store(not the bait shop) is for sale, but not sure of any def. buyers.

You know that Clay will probably erase that last comment I made so laugh about it quick.

I think all items in the store are on sale now.

That is the main reason I went up there earlier today. Got the email and wanted to help out. He has done a good many favors for me, and I just wanted to return them.

Yep, yep. I'm not sure when he's planning on actually being at the store to sell you these items on sale, I just know they are on sale.

I was gonna go today if it wouldn't have been for the wind. I'm going all stinkin weekend.

Maybe i don't know the place, but where do you now buy bait on the southeast side of the lake? I don't know if anything from Oakwood (closed or closing) to the Dam Store. That is at least a 30-45 minute drive each way. I would love to find something near 20 and PTI, where is that CoreyP? Everything i know of is on the west side of the lake.

Anyone else notice the posting times? It looks like the server time is almost 3 hours fast.

Posting times look to be about dead on from my computer.

I was talking to the guy at oakwood i guess a week or 2 ago and he said just the hunting store was closing .. the bait store would stay open at least for now.. What we need on the lake that would help us more is the marinas selling herring...

Just checked and my computer shows just the right time so I don't know what the heck is happening.
