Meeting went very well with some very good points brought up. I felt Nick handled himself very well. Filling Reggie's shoes is not an easy task. Sounds like the striper population is in good shape. We had a good stocking this spring of fingerlings. About an extra 38,000 than normal. The big question that has no answer is the number of fish that die in the summer. Even with this unknown the population appears to be able to handle it. Also got walleye for the third straight year. Hopefully a few others will post what they felt was important as well.

It was good to see the good turn out and meet Nick. It was a who's - who's of Lanier striper fishing. Good finally meeting you Eric (Skiffya). As Clay said, Summer time catch & Release mortality is the big unanswered question. Everyone offered to assist the DNR in anyway we could to help study that important unknown. I also agreed with Clay that the fishery seems to be in GREAT shape.

Mike, it was also great meeting you. Still, there were alot of unfamiliar faces lastnight.

I really thought the impacts from Herring on the White Bass, and Largemouth Sunfish populations was quite interesting. Had actually thought the Spots had something to do with it, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Alot of questions were answered lastnight. Also, if Nick did not have an answer, he said he would get it...I liked that alot.

I missed the first 10 minutes of the meeting. Not sure if I missed anything, but I did take some notes. Good stuff.

Sorry for missing Clay, but I did try to spread the word as much as I could like you asked. Having 2 sons in football keeps me wrapped up pretty good this time of year. I'm glad you had a good turn out. Nice to hear about the 38,000 extra little linesides - we'll have fun with about 19,000 or so of them in the next 4 or 5 years. I hope that stocking the walleyes turns "on" soon - I would definately get into that a little bit.

Clay, From what I hear you guys are going to be in great hands with Nick. Lanier is one of the best striper fishery's in the world if not the best. You guys are really lucky to have a fishery like Lanier at your back door.....

Take Care.
