Fishing remains the same. Downlines continue to be the best for myself. Caught half our fish mid-lake and half down near the dam. Some guys are doing well trolling but I have not been doing it. Some are trolling leadcore and some are trolling u-rigs. So many things working hard to say which is best. Found something new at the store. They just got in some clear sinkers for the downline made of clear plastic or glass. Have not looked at them close yet. Plan on trying them out tomorrow.

They are made out of a crystal material. I want to try them, but I can't find the right weight. Does Timberghost have 1 1/2 or 2 oz? Do they have the ones with the swivels or without or both? How much does them crystals cost?

By the way, good fishes Clay.

Invisible sinkers:

I think that they only come in 1oz and 3oz size. I believe they run about $3.50 each!!!!! I think i can live with lead for 1/10th the cost.

Saw my first one the other day. I believe the directions say "Rub crystal sinker three times, and fish catches will increase ten fold. When sinker is combined with fluorocarbon leader, our new invisible hooks, and swivels, and also used with a good Lowrance fish finder...the sky is the limit...try it today!"

I wonder what our forefathers would think of us? Probably beat us over the head with cane poles!

By the way, that was all in fun (incase some of you don't know me yet).

They will look good hanging from my rear view mirror...give off a little sparkly action. Think I will buy a 3 ounce and make a plumb-bob...been needing a new plumb-bob.

I have heard about them as well. I was also told they do come in 1.5 and 2oz sizes. Both Chuck Biggers and JasonH seem to think they help, especially when your fishing around a lot of other boats.

Clay thanks for your "call in" yesterday. Helped me get the ball rolling for those kids. Another set of happy birthday boys.

I'm hearing two different things on the invisible sinkers. One is that they come in sizes from 1 thru 3 oz and the other is that 1 and 3 oz is the only size. I've heard the 3 oz looks like a golf ball.

The website for them says 1oz and 3 oz. But if they are invisible, what does it matter how big they are? I guess more drag, but they are expensive none the less.

The ones with the swivels are not very hidden. Chuck Biggers was using them the other day and he said that the non-swivel ones are the key. They picked up several more fish on the invisible then lead. He also stated that 1 and 3 oz were the available sizes right now. We put it in water and the only thing you can see is were the drill bit scored the material making the hole for the line. I think it is safe to use a lighter leader and break that off amd save the main line and sinker. I think 50 lbs main line and 8 lbs leader sounds about right!!!!!

The swivel was my problem with the crystal sinker anyway. What good is an invisible sinker when the swivel is still visible. Now an invisible sliding sinker is a different story. Instead of using a swivel, splice the two different lines together, add a small clear bead below the sinker, some fluorocarbon leader, and then you would have my vote for an almost invisible carolina rig. Now it's time for the hook...

By the way, if that idea has not been taken yet(which it probably has,) it should be called the "Cla-co-bre-skif...mad-mack" rig.

You can try them but don't cry when you snag a stick fish, they don't float. I too had the bright idea flourocarbon invisiable hooks and now sinkers, souinds like a great combination.
But you know what at that cost I don't think I'll be buying and more any time soon..

catch and release.
