Anyone here been fishing that new resevoir near Jefferson? I think it's called "Bear Creek." I've heard of the "Hybrid Large Mouth" that have been stocked in it. Not sure if there is a boat ramp there.

I have been trying to fish that lake for three years.
There is very limited access no boat ramp yet.
From articles in the local papers they have used the following excuses: From a Barrow county commissioner if john boats with electric only are let in the boats will pollute our drinking water
She is also worried that Terrorist will blow it up so they put a big fence around it! Now they say a boat ramp is going to cost
$250,000.00 and they can't afford it.
On the brighter side that lake is stocked with a cross between a Florida strain bass and a California strain don't know about the Hybrids but the DNR regulations for that lake say all bass have to be over 22" so use your imagination they have been stocked in there for years with very few fishermen only people that live on the lake can fish with a boat. I'm thinking float tube!

Have you checked out Lake Varner in Newton County? It's and 850 acre lake (water supply) and I from what I have read sounds like it's pretty good for bass. There are actually a couple of guides that run trips on that lake.

That is one awesome lake it's electric only. I fished it a lot last year.If you have a boat like a River Hawk you can get up there where the big mama's live.Them boys down there are serious with their boats some will have 4 or 5 electric motors on their boat.
It's has a good population of BIG Largemouth,& crappie. Oh yea they got big Hybrid's also.
There is also another lake down that way called Black Shoals lots of big bass is it also it's in Rockdale county.

This explains the jon I saw being trailered down the road with 4 electric trolling motors on back... I was wondering what that was about.

yea what they do is wire all the rear motors to one or two foot switches at the bow. Then lock all rear motors forward then you sit on the front deck step on the switch and steer with the bow mounted motor it works great. Think about it four 80lb. trust or 100lb. on the back of a john boat plus a 50-80 bow mount I have seen some going 12-15 mph.loaded and no gas!

I haven't been to Lake Varner, but it sounds like a winner! I'll have to rig up some trolling gear on the Hawk...I'm running low on green-back.

Commerce Watershed has always been my favorite when it comes to electric only lakes. It's been a while since I have been there, not sure if the lake has much water in it right now...

I live 10 minutes from commerce water shed but I sold my riverhawk and bought a 20 center console. I caught a lot more fish out of my riverhawk I really miss that boat I even took it down to FLa. and went Red fish'n had a big Permit drag that little boat around for 20 minutes before we got him in, it was so big it wouldn't fit through the opening of the livewell on a b-60. lesson learned you don't need a big boat to catch big fish. (man I miss that boat)
