The last couple of days the striper fishing has been tougher. This is not to say the fish can not be caught. The pattern has not changed, the fish are just not feeding as well. Be sure to down size your line and fish an area you had luck in earlier in the week more thoroughly. The fish are still in the same areas. The best fishing continues to be from Browns Bridge north to Gainesville Marina. The weather has been the reason for the change in the fish along with the full moon. As the week continues, the fishing will get better.

I fished Sunday morning with herring without coaxing bite. Hit the Lan Mar Marina area, Sardis, Ada, Gainsville creek...not even a tug except for spots. They killed many baits. Marked some fish, but no takers. Was tough fishing, but a nice day on the water!

Went out Sat morning and only caught 2 fish. One small striper and one small hybrid. Fishing was tough, covered from ada creek, sardis, chestee area, lan-mar, two mile and six. Two fish caught on north end of lake.

I played hooky today and went fishing. I didn't catch any stripers, but I did catch 5 garr and missed about 10. The biggest one was 22 lbs. and about 4 feet long. I have great pictures but couldn't get my scanner to work. I only saw 2 other boats. Monday is a great day to stay out of work and go fishing. I used live herring, but cut them down the middle and put a ballon 10 feet over 1 ounce sinker with 40 lb. test and a snail hook, then hang on!!!!!

Toby, I've heard of large gar being caught in Lanier with alot in the Little River area. Were you targeting them or did you just happen into them. Sounds like a heck of a battle!

Clay, Fished Saturday & Sunday. North of the bridge. Places we fished early summer. 35-50 foot bottom & 25 foot down w/herring. Caught 4 Stripers Sat. and 3 Sunday. Tough!! Fished 10-12 places each day to catch one at a time. Points/coves off main lake and mouths of creeks. Also caught 6 bass & 2 catfish. Capt Dave Bush - "Lady Rose".

Looks like you had a great time Toby. Striper fishing has turned back on as well. I will make a detailed post in the morning. Running short on time tonight.

No, I wasn't targeting them. I was striper fishing, until I saw them surfacing all around me. Then, I targeted them as stated above. I missed several until I went to the 40 lb. leader. North Georgia sells a gar lure. I'll have one next time I go. My location was just north of Thompson Bridge. When the wind gets up, they disappear. Good Luck!!!
