I have been taking a mixed bag of baits. I take 12 trout. 6 med and 6 small, 12 bluebacks they are nice big bluebacks rite now to. Take about 6 shad, a couple of them being larger shad. Maybe more shad and less trout if you prefer. My tank just isnt big enough for alot of big shad.
I would put out a little of everything and I usually put out 3 shad, 2 on planers and one on a float out the back. Run a trout and a blueback on a planer and one or the other on another freeline and downline a bb and a trout.
Ive been pulling the middle to back of creeks and trying to pull my boards near the bank. You can pull flats also rite now. It seems like the nicer fish being caught have been in shallower waters.
As far as location, I would guess all the creeks have a few fish in them midlake. Havent been north in a while but Im sure theres still fish there also. Just pick your favorite creek and give it a shot. Try the next creek after a few hours if nothings going on. I pulled one area four hours last weekend with nothing then went to another creek and within a hour had 7 or 8 fish. Not all stripers unfortunatly. As Clay always says, try to find a area that isnt allready full of boats.
Maybe some others on here will give you some more helpful info and good luck.
