Watch out for floating debris with the rising water!!!!

Since we have been getting the much needed rain, the lethal trash is on the rise for sure. I lost a portion of my lower end a few days ago to a rather small pc. of pressure treated wood. It was about 2"x8"X12" (key word "was"). I'm always cautious, but a bit this small while on plane at 35 to 40 mph is almost impossible to see until you are right up on it and that's when I saw it. It was too late for any manuevers. It hit the bow centerline and then my Johnson's gear case and prop. The prop is okay, but I lost a portion of the horizontal fins on the starbord side. Such luck! Just saying, LOOK OUT!!! Trash is on the horizon.

I can't tell you how many times I have come close to doing the same thing. You are right it is very hard to see small heavy debris in the water.

>>>>No Oil Slick or busted box so I am lucky in that way...could have been a lot worse! I'm going to conserve a lot of gas this weekend if you know what I mean! Put-put-put all the way!

Be careful friends!

Yesterday I was trolling in Wahoo Creek headed south. Nothing much happening, just enjoying the day and the opportunity to be on the water. Looking back over my shoulder something caught my eye. Looking with both eyes I saw it was a piece of lumber. Yes I call it lumber, pressure treated 2X8 'bout 5 feet long. It was barely above the surface. With the ripples and direction of the sun, I had not seen it until I had passed it. If a one foot piece breaks your fin, I wonder what a 5ft piece would do? Being water logged it must have weighed 50 lbs. Be safe and good fishing.

Found this last week in Flat Creek. You can see the bullet hole mid body.

Wow. That's a new one for a bunch of us I'm sure. Is it covered in algae?
