The stripers are starting to migrate up from West point; have heard of decent fish caught or hooked and lost in deeper runs between 285 and whitewater unit--- bring some flukes and a medium action spinning rod next time you're floating the hooch....and plenty of line on the reel

Hey wormboy, do you frequent that part of the Hooch often? I have been to Morgan Falls one time, and we never even got a chance to fish it. The water was mucked up real bad, and my buddy had second thoughts about putting his boat in. Can't say I blame him. I am also a "yak" fisherman. I have two of them. My buddies have recently gotten into "yak fishing", so I was wondering if you have any suggestions on locations. Species does not matter. Thanks

a great drift is to put in near I-285 (palisades is ok) and drift down to the whitewater unit. there are a number of deep holes and runs in there that hold fish; big shoal bass in the summer with the occasional striper. morgan falls is also pretty good when the water warms up--- trout trying to get upstream to cooler water run into the dam and concentrate, and stripers will follow them. The dead water area by the dam is a great place for brim, bass, and perch on spinners if you want quantity; if you can tie up to the wall somehow nearr the water release side and cast flukes, etc into the current, that's where the bigger fish are. last weekend i caught a small striper (a mite bigger than your giant!) and a 3-4 lb catfish on a twister tail in the current--- so you never know what you'll pull out of there!

Hey man, thx for the info. Sounds like a good place to check out. I never got a chance to hit the Coosa(work ) during the spring run, but it is def. on my list for next year. Actually, I'm creating a "hit list" for this summer, and plan on sticking to it. Once I do a little more studying, I will post the list. Due to fuel prices, I am drawing the line at 100 miles(except Indian Pass Fl.-Main Target...Tarpon) from the house. I have never done this before, so feedback would be great--good, bad, not worth it, this month is better than that month, etc...
