Going to Sinclair this weekend. My wifes gradmother lives on the lake and I am wanting to take the boat. Does anybody know anything about it? I talked to a guy today and he said there are a few stripers and alot of hybrids but nobody fishes for them. There isnt a bait shop that Ive heard about other than worms shiners etc. He said he had only heard of a couple of people fishing for hybrids and they trolled lures. He did say the stripers had not been restocked for a few years and you dont many of them. I dont know weather to take my own bait which would be way out of the way to get or just try urigs etc. Thinking about not taking boat also and just fish off dock.

David,

Don't you catch one of those evil hybrids...LOL

Alot of the guys used to pull the small u-rigs with maller jigs, as well as crank baits with a small jig trailer tied on the back hook.

Is it legal to use shiners there? You could probably keep them alive with minimal effort.

Their are plenty of striped fish in that lake. Approach it just like Lanier but downsize your equipment. If that doesn't work go to Lawrence Shoals by the dam on Oconee. If they are pulling water fish the point opposite of the ramp. Heard they were really catching them there recently. Shiners will work fine. Plenty of bait shops. Or, you can catch shad on the lake very easily. Bait is everywhere right now. Good luck.

Oh, by the way, fishing on both lakes is very closely tied to water being pulled or pumped back! If it is slack poor fishing.IMO.

Save your $$ and fish off the dock. We have a place down there and fish it often, but don't fish for stripers or hybrids. We've got them by accident (usually about 2 lb-ish) but far and few between. LM fishing can be pretty decent this time of year, but you've got to work for them. Throw pop-r's or Sammy's at sunset off the dock or at before sunrise. Note Kj's comment above about water flow. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Charles, I am still undecided weather to lug boat down there. I just cant understand why no one fishes for hybrids and stripes if there in there.

David, my wife's aunt and uncle live on Sinclair and I have fished it several times. I have been fishing since I was a kid and this lake whips my butt. I hate fishing Sinclair, unless they are generating water it flat out stinks. IMO.......
