For those of you who don't know, the Lanier Striped Bass Coalition (LSBC) is being formed.

Our somewhat lengthy mission statement is as follows:

To lead in the conservation and preservation of striped bass on Lake Lanier and to be a participating and active partner with all levels of government in successfully maintaining a thriving and healthy population of striped bass on Lake Lanier.

We have completed the process of incorporating as a non-profit organization. The bylaws have been completed, an internet domain name has been secured, a website is in development and a striper fishing creel report data collection system is being developed.

Hopefully, before too long we will have an "official" announcement, conduct our first meeting and begin recruiting members and sponsors and hold elections for it's board of directors.

Our vision for the LSBC is to be a organization where all the vested parties in Lanier's Striper Fishery - guides, clubs, tackle manufacturers, bait stores, local businesses, recreational angers can work together with the DNR and other government agencies in ensuring that Lanier has the best striper fishery possible. We aim to facilitate, coordinate and lead, not replace or compete with any existing organization.

We sincerely hope that we can get every one's support in this endeavor.

P.S. I guess I should have put this in the correct section!! Clay can you please move it for me. Thanks!

Guys Mike has rolled out the website, the angler survey, etc.

Until we get a little further along, the best way you can help the LSBC is to sign up for membership. It is only $20 per year for an individual membership and that money is going to a worthy cause. You can sign up on the internet via the website with paypal, or you can download the membership application and sign-up via regular mail.

We will be needing some additional volunteers once we get further along with the development of the LSBC, but for now we really need to get members.

Please don't sit on the sideline when it comes to the protection and enhancement of the striper fishery on Lake Lanier.

I am not sure but we are growing. The date of the meeting is getting closer. Who all is coming? I hope to see everyone there.

The biggest problem is that most people will not look ahead. They wait until there is a crisis and then they want things fixed overnight when a little foresight would have prevented the crisis. Happens every single day.

Forgive my ignorance; I know the meeting is at BPS but when and what time, also can I get a volunteer to hold my wallet while we're there?

I think we have been negligent in mentioning that all levels of membership and sponsorship will be good for the balance of 2011 and all of 2012 (i.e. your not going to be asked to renew your memberships until January of 2013!!!).

Please come on out to BPS on November 3rd at 7pm.

I think another way of saying the same thing Clay mentioned above is this. A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine. We in the shipping business say something to this point. You had all year to ship your Christmas presents, and I'm sorry that we can't get your stuff to your kids in (pick city) when you show up for overnight service at 8pm Christmas Eve, and we are closed on Christmas Day. I'm in too. See you all on 11/3/11 at 7:00 p.m.
