Hey everyone Im new to the forum, Im from Jax Beach, Fl. My family is coming up the third week of June for some get away time. Myself and my wife and daughter will be camping at the Bald Creek camp grounds. The in-laws are renting a house close by. I will be bringing my Gheenoe to do some fishing. I am brackish water guy targeting Redfish and Trout. My question to ya'll is.......

I am not looking for any honey holes, I just want some general info on what type of tackle ya'll use in your area. I am a TW freak and mainley throw SkitterWalks. Any info ya'll can give me would be greatley appreciated. I know I wont be able to use planers because my boat is not set up for that type of fishing. I would love to hook up with a few stripers while I am there. Thanks in advance for any info provided!!

Stripers that time of the year will primarily be on a weighted downline. For topwater in June you are mostly going to be looking at spotted bass. The water here is super clear, so you can catch them on topwater in 30-40' of water or even deeper. Bald ridge gets a lot of boat traffic, i'd be very careful in a Gheenoe.

Keep watching the forum as the date approaches.

I over looked that you were gonna be in a Gheenoe. You're crazy if you stay out there in a Gheenoe past 10-11am. Lanier has a lot of crazies boating on the weekends.

Thanks for the replys fellas, I'm heading up there this Tuesday and hope to catch a few. I'll watch out for the crazies on the water, we have some pretty big boats in our area cruising down the ICW. I'm hoping that the traffic wont be too bad during the week.

Any last advise would be great, as I said before I'll be around the Bald Ridge area. I will probably stick to artificial baits so if ya'll could give me some last minute purchase advise it would be great.

Thanks again for the information provided, I'll let ya'll know how I did.

Hey thanks Tom, I'll check him out when I get up there. Where is that in relation to the camp grounds?

I've been bugging ya'll for tackle info and its been on the front page of the site the whole time. I have a little of what was mentioned its more redfish related, I'll see how it works out.

If you see a faded 16" Gheenoe with FL registration come by and say hey. Thanks for the advise and hope to see ya'll on the water.
