I'll be there next week with the family, and wonder if any of you can recommend a guide. Thanks!

I can't think of any in Amelia right off the bat. What are you wanting to fish for, and what time of year?

I'm heading down to Key West and taking a guide out on Monday. Just got off the phone with the Captain and he said the weather has been a little rough(windy), so we shall see....

Next week. I've checked with a few guides I found online. I hear the in-shore is best now, as opposed to deep sea. From what I can tell, it would be trout, redfish, flounder, sheepshead, etc. The kids would get a kick out of a shark.

It's the same area as Fernandina Beach, very close to Jacksonville.

Hey, post some feedback on your trip. I've been wanting to go down there for some boatless fishing. There's a pretty long pier next to the jetty in Fort Clinch State Park. You can fish off the jetty or the pier. At the other end of the island, the old bridge is used as a fishing pier. A bait shop is at the north end. You can also drive on some of the beaches, so surf fishing would be real easy. Sounds like a great place to go if you don't have a boat.

I didn't fish with a guide, but I fished from the fishing bridge (south end of the island) a little. I wasn't prepared for that amount of current. You need 4 to 6 ounces of weight.

The guy next to us caught this 23-pound black drum:

You also need a hoop-net to get big fish to the bridge.

I have never fished from a pier but have always wondered how they get fish like that from the water to the pier. I've seen some that are ten or more feet from the water. Do they have nets with long poles or something?
