Still thinking about having an Up on Lanier get together one weekend. Thinking about what, when, and where. Open to ideas:
Small tour. ? - have a bragging rights trophy that passes forward each year to the winner or a Flag you get to fly on your boat for the year
Tour would have to be a release tx
Cost or no cost on tour?
Which month? May or early June
Food: always
Where: possibly Little Hall but I think the pavilion is pricey.
Not meet on the lake but instead meet at a restaurant one night a year.
Please post ideas. Corey and I spoke about this a couple years. Time goes by too fast.

I would love to meet up with all the guys sometime. I like the idea of a Tourney too. I think you get everyone to throw in a small, 20 bux a boat, amount just to make it interesting. I also like the flag idea.

Whats the difference between a tour and a tourney?

Maybe use just an area around a boat ramp that has a beach/slash chill area for free? Bring some grills and some tables and have a good time.

Is the old Tiki Hut still closed, where we blast off for the Funfest? They have a lot of docking space there.

Van Pugh North has a nice pavillion and grill. There is not any docking space, but to the side of the ramps there is a large sandy area to beach the boats.

We are gonna have to agree on disagreeing here, so that means we should just go with my idea:

Food = Tim Farmers smoker and boston butts for the best bbq you'll ever eat. Just have to find somebody to watch the meat while Tim fishes? There ya have it, I just booked the food part. smile

Place = Laurel Park, do not argue this location, as you know both directions are great fishing, period. There are inexpensive covered picnic areas that will work out great.

Date = Preferably April, but early May would be my second choice. To me, there is too much lake activity by June.

Tournament = Yes, structured up like the Oakwood tx would be easiest to manage. Catch and release, fish go by length, there will be a number given out in the morning, twenty bucks with a ten dollar optional big fish pot, cheaters will be drowned near the ramp. smile

Bragging Rights = Should depends on who wins. If I win, yes, I think a flag would be great. If some non deserving flunkie wins, then no, no flag - maybe just wait till next year to give it out or whatever. Just kidding, the flag sounds like a good idea.

I'll sponser a portion of the get together to help out financially. Hopefully, there will be another taker or two.

I'm in....Port Royale has a nice Tiki Hut area and may even cater it....Everybody chip in on the cost?...Sunset Cove also has plenty of room........Let's do it.

I am looking at May 21 right now. This year I am thinking we will keep it fairly small but hopefully next year we will expand it with more time to plan. Maybe this year just to lay the framework and have discussion about what to do next year and get the ball rolling. With the Oakwood tx. I assume you guys send the pictures in to a central phone number similar to the Fun Fest correct?

Checking with the CORE to see what ramps are open and the cost. Either we do Little Hall or Laurel Park with a tx and have food catered or just meet at Sunset Cove for lunch one day. With the lack of time, I am leaning towards just meeting at Sunset Cove at lunch for a get together and prepare for next year. I like the location of Port Royale but I have not been impressed with the food. I have not been to Sunset Cove. Big Creek does not have enough room for the boats.
