Not much has changed on the crappie bite, its best early morning on docks but when they shut down thats it. Hit a dock today that had em so thick we were snagging multiple fish just reeling in the jig but after about 9am they shut off and wouldnt hit anything we put in front of them but you could feel your jig bumping in to the fish. They were really stacked up.

I have heard of people seeing crappie on the sidescan but I have not seen any good pics yet myself. Maybe micro has seen some. I had crappie on the brain today as well. Before someone asks. I do have a permit.

I had the same thing happen to me friday. we were snagging fish in the side when we thought we were snagged on brush. what causes that?

its when the fished are stacked up tight but for what ever reason they are not bitting. Your in the right spot just not there at the right time. If you can find them like that when the water starts to warm you will fill the livewell real fast.

can you see crappy under docks with structure/side scan? anyone out there with images of this?
I have seen pics when on other boats that showed crappie under a dock, But its no always the case. the side scan beam can miss fish that are very close to the bottom of a dock or in tight with the brush under one. Best way to use one is to set it to scan out 1 side of the boat at 50 feet, you will get a much better image that way. Just run down the edge of some docks and take a look. Boat lifts will sometimes look like fish but with practice it can be a great tool. But I have seen it go the other way too. You scan a dock and you know it has fish under it so you fish and fish and throw everything you got while wasting hours trying to get them to bite. Sometimes its best to just go from dock to dock, throw to each one 10-12 times and if you dont get bit move to the next. Most times you will get a bite with in the first 3 cast if the fish are willing to bite.
