Got out this evening without going to my second home (Oakwood B&T) and decided to just pull u-rigs. I've fished north the past few weeks and decided to stay south.

Put in at Old Federal and went south. I will say I was in Orr creek again around the reef markers and marked a ton of bait. I pulled the first rig with all 2oz. baits on it about 60ft back and hooked up with in 5 minutes of letting it out. So I decided to stay with this rig. I'm no Carson or Farr and I just pull one rig but on the evening I landed 5 fish from the 8 to 15 pound range. All jigs were tipped with chartruse curly tails and pulled between 60 to 70 behind the boat.

WTG Billy, Looks like you have scored better than most in recent times. Sounds like you had a pretty good day even though you had to battle the wind. NICE JOB big guy.

Good Job Bill. We are going to brave the wind tomorrow and fish u-rigs only too. No live bait.

Lionel and I got out Monday and hit some of the same areas with only one hook up on the rigs. I got off work early and decided to brave it alone. Knowing that pulling the rigs in windy weather doesn't really take a lot of effort but there were times it was tough. I think the hardest thing the whole time on the lake was wanting a pinch of Skoal wintergreen. I quit about two weeks ago and it's been tough as hell.

Good to hear Billy... I quit 4 years ago and it took 2 long years to stop wanting that pinch. Finally don't get bothered now. Good luck with it.

I can remember when Billy hated U Rigs. I know he's still not a big fan. But he knows what works. Nice job Billy

Yeah, I owe Tom Blackburn for the addiction to u-rigs. We got out on a windy cold day when other people were pulling baits then dropped the rigs and killed them. Honestly, this is the best I have done by myself along with slaying them last year on lead core. I will say again; Never say never!!!
