I finally got back out on the water today after a 3 week lay-off with a bad case of bronchitis. I wanted to do a little scouting for some kind of pattern after the cold snap. Mike D and I launched about 8 am and hit a couple of good December holes. Water temp was around 49 and we had a good little breeze out of the NW. It was a slow morning with only 1 dink striper on a downlined herring by 10 am. We checked the back of a creek on the south end and Mike hooked a nice fish on a freelined trout back about 150 feet. He hit the bait once and missed, then followed it for a good 100 feet. Mike hit the free spool and dropped the trout back right into the stripers big ole pie hole. That's all it took, he was on and running. After we landed it we only had a couple of good pull backs and that was it. We ended at noon with me catching the dink and Mike catching a nice fish we guessed to be between 22-24 pounds. It was nice to be back out on the water and get a nice fish in the boat. Here's a pic of Mike's fish.
