Went down to L.A. this weekend (lower Alabama) for some fishing out of Orange Beach. We went inshore Friday night and caught well over 100 white trout. We came up on a light that was hosting some nice slot reds and we fished that light out. After that, the tide went slack and the fish shut off. We went back in to get a good nights rest for the next day of 1-2' seas according to NOAA. Well, NOAA was wrong once again and we drove out on an east wind that made it 3-4' quartering seas. It was a crappy ride out. We managed to get on a few spots (coordinates kept secret to insure I will catch again) and get some nice snapper, b-liners and triggers. Came back to watch the Tigers score a few points on the hogs. After the game, we rested a bit and headed back out for some more reds and hopefully a few specks. Well, we only managed 1 speck and a couple of reds as the white trout were all over the berkley gulps. I will say this, they are not kidding when they say the gulp will out fish live bait. We had both and stuck with the gulp.
All in all it was fun weekend hanging out with some friends who I haven't seen in awhile. It was hard leaving and coming back to the busy city but what are you gonna do?
Tight Lines,
Brad
