By now I hope everybody is aware of the Get Kids Fishing Foundation- Georgia chapter 2010 Lake Lanier Striper Benefit being held November 13 on beautiful Lake Lanier. Since it is our first of many annual fund raising events, our planning committee has decided on a maxim of 50 boats. Registration is first come first serve and pre pays are going quick. Hey Dave,

I'm already registered and paid, but I have a question.

Tx rules say "Fish must be caught by anglers registered in the competition." There will be 4 of us on my boat.

Do you need the names of everyone or does my registration cover all?

Fish must be caught by anglers on YOUR boat to receive credit for the catch. Lets hope it's one of the kids! I will share the attached information with the email I will be sending out to all the participants. Look for the email on Weds.

OK guys Saturday morning is peeking its head out and here is some additional information you will need for the TX on Saturday.

1. All boats must check in and pick up their TX boat number from the dock of Port Royale Marina. We will start handing the boat numbers out at 630a sharp. This will allow you 30 minutes to go north or south since lines can NOT be in the water until 700a. Please, follow the honor system and don't drop until 700a. Boat numbers will include yellow lunch tickets.
2. Each boat MUST have a digital camera, measuring stick (Fun Fest will be best) and a cell phone. When you catch a striper you must place the boat number (given to you) on the fish and capture a detailed photograph on the measure stick nose on zero and pinched tail as total length. Save photo, we will be reviewing ALL top 5 winners and big fish photos for verification.
3. After you’re comfortable with the detailed photo, please call 678.237.2800 and give us your team name, boat number and total inches of fish. You will receive a confirmation number from a GKF volunteer recording your fish. Keep the confirmation number for your records- you may need it later in the day.
4. Official rules state that we catch and release and the total inches of the TWO largest fish will be your final score. So, call your first two fish in and the largest after that. NO NEED TO CALL IN SMALLER FISH.
5. Lines out of the water at 100p. No calls will be taken once the attached phone number strikes 100p. You will get voice mail only and NO voice mails will be used as a phoned in catch since you will have no confirmation number (unless it fails under rule #6). If you receive voice mail between 700a and 100p, please hang up and call again after a few minutes. Your fish will NOT be recorded unless you speak with a live person and get confirmation #.
6. THE LAST MINUTE PHONE IN RULE: In the event it is 100pm on the nose, please leave a detailed message with your boat number, team name and total inches of the fish. The 678.237.2800 number has a time stamp and worst case scenario the time stamp will confirm the last minute catch. Odds are this will not happen but we have included this rule just in case.
7. Any appeals must be accompanied by all confirmation number.
8. Music and Chick-fil-A lunch will be handed out at Port Royale Marina starting at 100p. Tie up to the docks- volunteers will be assisting. Big fish and 1st - 5 th place awards will start sometime after 200p. Caption's bags will be handed out after the awards ceremony.
9. We will be having a raffle so please bring cash or your checkbook. Items to raffle will include:
“Bad Fish” Islamorada, FL- Backcountry Fishing Trip, (2) Paradise Rental Boats- free pontoon boat rental, Atlanta Falcon signed football, University of Georgia signed baseball, (2) Graphite fishing rods, Get Kids Fishing polo shirt & visor and much much more. Tickets will sell for $5 and $10 depending on the prize.

Do you have to launch from Port Royale or can you trailer to somewhere else?

Put in anywhere. Port Royale is allowing us to us their ramp if anybody would like to put in and leave their trailer for the day! Planning on handing out boat numbers from the docks- just pull up, we'll give you your info and off you go.
