40 ft deep on a hump. Found some bait and a couple fish going in and out. My son and i dropped our spottails down and this beauty stretched my line. 8lb Fluoro on light bass tackle. Over a 5 minute stressful battle. Some of the best fun I have ever had and my family really enjoyed it. I think it really lit a fire with the boys. I hope this moment will be burned in their memories and give them the fire to get outdoors and "get hooked". I have been dying to get my own striper for over a year, and hard research, a lot of help from some of the folks here, and luck; finally paid off.

We had a video going on my phone, but when I handed the phone to my wife, I forgot to push the record button. We thought we were taping and unfortunately we were not. We were all pretty upset because this fish was stripping line and the reactions were priceless when we saw her coming up under the boat. To us, this fish is a beast. Man, this does not get old.

2 quick pics and I released her. She torpedoed nicely and went straight down.

OUTSTANDING bassaddict!

You will always remember that first striper and so will they. Nothing like it after all the hard work for that first one. The smiles on those boys faces says it all.

I hope that we get a decent top water bite and they blow up while you and the kids are on the lake. You could all have one hooked up. Congratulations!

Awesome!! That's a great feeling, I know. Congrat's, and may you and yours catch many, many more. Thanks for sharing the pics, too.

What sort of surface temp range brings the fall topwater bite? Is that more prevalent in low light for stripes when it starts?

I really need to start keeping a log-- although there'd be a lot of blank pages, I've been at this long enough that the data accumulation is starting to run into memory failure
