Ok. I finally figured it out. Just got a new graph a few weeks ago. Randomly the screen would “blue out” or “red out” depending on the sensitivity setting. The whole screen would turn blue where I couldn’t see anything. I can turn the sensitivity down below 80% and it will not do it, but doesn’t pick up fish either…

Figured it out Saturday. It only does it when the trolling motor is on. Well, all speeds except for 5. And 5 it not what we need it on when down lining.

Here is my setup. Kota is only wired directly to 24 v deep cycles. Lowrance is directly wired to a jell cell battery with cheap-o red and black clips. I just haven’t wired it to the boat yet. So it’s totally separate from the trolling motor.

Not even any bank chargers connecting them. Dude at Hammonds said I need to make sure the Kota is grounded. This doesn’t make sense to me, but common sense ain’t to common…

Any “insight” would be greatly appreciated!

B, Run a ground wire straight from the battery you are using for the lowrance and then run it out the back of the boat, and bolt it to the bracket your transducer is on. This will ground your unit and take care of it most likely. And yes I mean have it in the water.

Dan is correct .If you run that ground onto transducer in the water it helps.

Dan-you dont think wiring to the unit to the circut board will fix it? I dont plan on keepin the unit wired directly to the battery...

You can try, but I had to do the same thing and it fixed the problem. Good Luck! If you hook up to the circut panel unless it is grounded somewhere it will be no different.

good deal. at least the main boat batteries are in the back of the boat. I will not have to beat my head against the wall trying to run more wires like I did with the transducer wire…

DAN-Connecting the hds to the circut panel just isnt going to happen, by me at least...so do you think it will make a differnece if i ground it to the main boat batteries(in the back of the boat) or the battery that powers the unit(under the cc)???

Yes! just ground the battery that is powering the unit with a lead right to the transducer bracket and see what happens.

Mine is done exactly this way as well.
