Why do the majority of the Stripers move to the south end of the lake in the summer? Why dont they move into the rivers where the current would generate more oxygen. And why dont they stay in main channels north of Browns Bridge?

I was having a discussion with a buddy and while I know its true that most of the fish are on the south end I dont understand why.

Waiting for the Striper Experts to chime in.....

Temperature and D/O. There will be some fish further north but not as many. There will be some fish way up the rivers where there are cold water refuges, but those are few, far between, and difficult to access. Look up the report Mike posted from the DNR about6 weeks ago and you will see the difference in water quality between gainesville and the dam.
