The summer stripe bite has been pretty sweet the last few outings. Went out with a family friend and my brother and boated 18 the first day following up with 7 the next. Biggest was a 19 pounder along with an 18 pounder caught within 5 minutes of each other. All the stripes on the graph have been marked 30-70 feet deep right off the main channel. All methods have been working for us. We've also been seeing a lot of stripers busting the surface! We were only able to catch one of those busting.

Dan put a leash on those attack dogs! laugh

You may have caught more Sunday but you will never come close to the number I hit the outing before! My thumb is still healing.

I fished yesterday using lead core,,my 1st experience...there is a learning curve and my guess is im only 1/2 there,,did catch 3 the largest 16 lbs,,,i was out 7 colors,,and wow what a long retrieve,,i did learn not to pull 2 at once by ur self,,that 200 plus feet is a lot of wk,,i may go back to dn riggers,,has any one tried the weights that snap on ur line? u let out 50 ft of line then u snap a lead weight on to the line 3oz or 6 oz or 8oz and let out 50 ft more,we used these for lake trout in canada and wkd well,,just hard to tell how deep u are Dan

You can try a dipsy diver or one of the salt water down planars.

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_89426____SearchResults

There is a planer setup you can do where you leave the planer attached to a cleat. Then you use a rubber band and paper clip to drop your line down to the planer. When the fish hits, the band breaks. You don't have to fight (or trigger) the planer and you leave it in place while you fish.

For the record, Sunday I caught ALL of the stripers and you lost them all.

Just keep catching those spots. Should I bring some worms next time?

Yea Come-On.... Zeke

Lt Snag, I use the fish you catch as bait! Don't forget I hold the family record for the most and the biggest stripes, Zeke. Stick around your little brother and I may tell you my striper secrets wink

I'm pumped about next Sunday!
