On June 26th there will be an on the water demo for all of the Lowrance HDS, Structure Scan, Radar, Weather and Navionics test rides. Did anybody find out anything about the dots/lines all over the screen on the hds. Mine has them and I would love to get them off there.

What unit do you have and when did you purchase it?

I had the local lowrance reginal rep finally have a look at mine and he couldnt belive how 'unclear' mine is. He dbl check my install and commented on how clean it look.

He thinks its my head unit and is swaping them out for me. I have a 1st Gen HDS- 7. Ill let you know how it goes...

Its a 8 inch. In Jan it will be two yrs old. It never looks like Bill Carsons either. Maybe I need to get him to check mine also.

if you can make it to Laurel Park, they are running the Lowrance boat for demos and you can pick their brains on the settings. Went up there today, and was AMAZED on what its 'suppose' to look like compared to mine.

I have a question for fellow Lowrance owners. I've only got Lake Insight data. It's ok. I haven't seen the Navionics data in action on the lake. I've seen it for SE Atlanic region, and I wasn't especially impressed.

What I want to know is if the Navionics data gives some indication of the depth of trees/brush in each area.

I also wonder separately if there is a way to get custom map images overlaid in the device. I would like to get satellite imagery of the FL Keys. Depth data isn't worth nearly as much as the overhead images when working the back country. I resorted to using google maps on my android phone, but range is an issue.

I have the Platinum chip for my HDS 10 and the camera view is awesome. It makes your GPS terrain look like Google Earth. There are still a lot of functions I have not played with but I just got back form inshore fishing in the gulf and it worked great!
