Just returned this afternoon from a week in the Ft Walton, Destin PC area for a "Try Before You Buy" event where I took the boat and used it to demo the HDS and all of the add on's. I even got to do some off shore fishing and exploration using the Structure Scan. I've been dying to test this baby in salt water and I am here to tell you it was the bomb!!!! A boat dealer in Ft. Walton provided me with 4 bottom numbers and the stuff I was able to locate with in 200 or so feet of the numbers he provided blew away the other stuff. My theory is that we go to a number and then try to repeatedly go back to it never noticing anything around it. The LGC4000 with electronic compass was awesome and weather was a big hit as was BR24. Any way I'll just attach as many pictures as I can and let you all just do the inspection. They closed Federal waters all the way to PC yesterday and that is the most awful thing I have ever seen!!!!!

Thanks for the information and pictures Bill, they are always a treat. I assume the fishing revenue will be devastated in the gulf now.

Why can't our celebrities perform or have a get together to raise money for people making a living in the gulf? This country will take care of Haiti or Indonesia but won't lift a finger to help our own. I don't get it sometimes. . . .

It was near impossible to charter a boat even before the closure in Fed Waters because most all boats were hired by BP. A 30 foot and under is getting $1200 per day for 10hrs plus fuel and maint and a 30+ is getting $1800 from what I was told. This is great for the charter and commercial guys but does nothing for the remaining folks. This is way way deeper than just the surface no pun intended...makes me sick to my stomach.

I believe Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Chesney and several other smaller names are giving a free concert in Gulf Shores, AL this weekend to benefit the disaster. Not sure how they will create money if it is a free concert, but I'm sure they have something in mind.

Already a fan of those guys, even more so now.
