I didn't think it would last long. I would love to have an Avet if they had a level wind system. I know they are tow trucks for big fish and made in the USA.

Yeah, but I bought it for surf fishing. I'm wanting to get the bait out to that third trough. I also want to tie a heavy shock leader on and don't want the lever wind getting in the way. The MC feature on these reels are supposed to cut down on birds nest. I'm hoping with a little practice to be able to cast over 100 yards.

I ended up keeping the reel. Ebay and Paypal pissed me off, so I refunded my bidders payment. Paypal placed a 21 day hold on the money and the fees were over $30 which is crazy considerng they were going to sit on the money. I'm wanting to go surf fishing before then. Hopefully in the next two weeks.

I was selling the reel to replace it with an MXL which is a little smaller. This reel is a 3/0 size reel and the MXL is approximatley a 2/0. There's also a SX which is even smaller. The reel's going on a 12ft surf rod. I was worried that it was too big, but I put it on the rod this afternoon and it actually feels pretty well balanced.

As far as a lever wind, just hold your hand out with the palm down. The leverwind will be on the right.

Oh, Avet just dropped the prices on the MX and SX series.

I know about using your thumb to assist with the retrieval on those reels. I even talked to a rep from Avet about putting the level wind on for less experienced fisherman and they said it "might" be in their near future. Those reels are manufactured in California not far from where I am from. If this happens I will be upgrading from the Takota's to the Avet.
