what a day. There were no lacrosse games to yell at teenagers today.

I took out my skunky smelling 6 year old. Kid can't catch a break, but he's a trooper. He forgot his jacket so we couldn't run in the morning. I stayed close to home and worked flat.

The back of the creek was crowded to say the least. I was in and out and saw nothing happening when I was there.

Mid creek, we had striper rolling right on top of us at one point, but the damn boats were buzzing all over the place and spooked them. When it started, it looked like I could scoop them up with the catch net.

Around 2:30, we were trolling off a point just outside the mouth and a line started zinging. The kid learns fast. 6 years old and he's yelling "he's mine" and grabbed the reel. The thing was hitting top water and running.

Kid couldn't handle it. Rod tip was diving. So I made the bad decision. Instead of bringing in the other 4 lines, I helped him.... 3 minutes later, crossed lines and the fished yanked off.

It's a freaking greek tragedy out there for him. He was p.o.'ed that we had to get home by 5pm for the wife.

I just now got it... lax = lacrosse! I'm a bit slow, I guess.

I know you and the kid will hang in there. With your perseverance, and the rising water temps, it's just a matter of time before you'll be posting a sweeter report (hopefully with a nice pic)! Probably within your next trip or two.

At least y'all had a fish on for a while, and he got to fight it for a few minutes. He'll definitely be grinning ear-to-ear soon.

Even though he lost it, the experience will make him even more determined and excited when it finally happens. Also a good life lesson, perseverance, keep trying, good things don't always come easy, etc., etc., etc.

I am in a slump just like your son. Never been in one this bad to be honest.....ever since I picked the fine sport of striper fishing up. I have no idea what's going on, but it'll change soon. Good luck to ya'll, keep at it and good things will happen.

Be at the right place at the right time with the right bait....and you just never know what might happen. smile

I agree with Corey. Currently it's all about a specific place and a specific time. I went fishing three days last week (week days) and caught one fish. Let's hope a more defined pattern develops soon!
