Here's one good reason for not getting off on a dock - they're private property and it's trespassing. Might even get you looking down the business end of a barrel.

You've seen my dock, Corey. A big wake from a barge like yours would sink it. The only thing holding it up are the boat lift and the pontoon boat.

Hi, new to the forum and thought I would add that the rules of not leaving your boat were on the sign up sheet. I surely hope that the masses dont think its ok to jump off your boat to the docks to fish.It really makes it hard for us that learn to shoot docks only to get run off by jumpy dock owners. All in all its a good tourney and I hope you all come out to fish it with us. Good fish are starting to move up to docks and fishing the edges or shooting jigs under them is only going to get better and better over the next few weeks

I carry a couple of 12 foot crappie poles that I can drop a bait around boats, boat lifts, etc. A couple of years ago I caught a 5lb large mouth doing this. I landed him on 4 lb test. water temp was about 55 or so. Could never have done it in warmer water. The longer poles are great for keeping a bait bouncing in front of them and I use them as my outside poles when trolling.
