What are the best for the money deep cycle trolling motor batteries besides the high dollar optimas? Just wanted to see some opinions.

I've got the same 2 Interstate Batteries in my boat that I had back in Feb 08 and that run exactly the same as they did back then.

I can't remember the number on the battery right off. I've had Interstate trolling batteries that were no good. I'll get the number off of them this afternoon and post back.

Best batteries you can buy are golf cart batteries. They have a much higher amp-hour rating and will last a lot longer. They will also withstand the rigor of mutliple drains and charging better than any 12 volt battery you can buy. There is a down side, however. They are 6 volt batteries so you need twice as many of them. That means more $$ and more space needed. So to get 24v you need four batteries($80/each)wired in series. Not sure anyone has the room for them, but it would be a heck of a setup.

Interstate all the way but the charger makes the biggest deal.

Sounds like Interstate is going to win. I have one Interstate and one Energizer in there now, and by charger took a *@#* so while I have sent it back to the manufacturer I figured I would replace the batteries as well since they are the ones that were in there when I bought the boat.

29s are Great but hard to find. 27s are the standard and fine for most aplications. Deka is hard to beat for the price. Go with a 5 or 10 amp charger not 15. My 2 cents

I've got to agree on the Deka's. This will be my 4th year on a set that are still going strong. We'll see if they make it through this season. I'm using a 3 pole 5amp charger and I check the fluid levels two times a year.

Give Voltex a call, the money you save might be worth the trip down to Norcross. Especially if you've got a trip BassPro planned.
