OK, I decided to go both days this weekend due to the way better than average weather. I have not seen the fishing so bad, and the wather so cold and wet, windy, rainy, or all of the above.
Well Saturday my wife and fishing partner has not wanted to go for some time now, because of the inclimate weather and "fishing not catching" so she says you go yourself Saturday and if you catch anything I will go Sunday. This was supposed to be the better and warmer of the two days.
So Saturday I go to a creek south of Flat crk so as to stay out of the way of the Lanier Toruney Gents. I start about 8:30 and by 10:30 I have had one blow up on a big trout. I have had three runs on my planer boards with not hook ups. Then I finally put a good fish in the boat on a flat line, and he was around 18 lbs. That was all I could muster on Saturday, but I caught a fish so the lovely bride had to go Sunday. LOL
Sunday starts off a little colder feeling than Saturday, but an hour in to the morning we hit a nice fish around 15# but the fish came unbuttoned near the boat. We had no other action for a couple more hours, and then I decide to go to Flat Crk because of "Well this was my theory" they had the tourney yesterday so maybe it will be empty "WRONG" anyway I didn't realize they were having the top six fish off from the NGSC year end tourney.
We saw a few guys we know and I follow a boat around the circle as you will in FC and BAM Janet gets a fish on a flat line, it then felt like it took forever to land it because it was on 12# line on a whip rod and had her spooled twice to 170ft out. Jan is an excellent fisherwomen though so she eventually wins, but she was so spent from the battle she couldn't hold it up like usual. It came to the scales to weigh in at 21 1/2 lbs on the boga, but a real stud no doubt. While she was fighting it I hear DAN tell her to hurry up and land that thing we want to see it! turns out to be the killer bait tank crew lol,
So the bottom line is we had way more fishing than catching, but we did catch fish both days and what a blessing to have had some nice weather for a change.
OH YES! I saw 50.2 water temps today as of noon.
