Depends mostly on the style of fishing you are looking to do. The best general advice I can give you is to select a reel with a solid drag. People use a wide range of rods and reels, and it really comes down to preference. The biggest factor is going to be quality. You can wear spots out all day on a cheap $20.00 spinning reel, but if you ever get a decent striper hooked up you might as well kiss your reel good bye.
Are you looking at a baitcaster (like guys use for greenies) or are you looking for a levelwind reel?
Are you going to fish from shore or from a boat?
