Clay I am looking forward to the seminar on the 18th and was out shooting some video and what not yesterday that I will use. I thought these might be interesting and informative to some.

I jumped on the lake yesterday for the first time in over 3 weeks. I did realize in short order that I had not missed a lot and I can see why. With temps on the main lake in the 42-43 degree range there continues to be a mass kill of bait. The one fish I did boat was puking up small baits and looked like it had swallowed a football. My intent yesterday was to get some footage for making a HDS video more than anything else and I did get some footage that will start the process. Having done over 7 shows in 3 weeks I continue to get asked some basic stuff. I think most of you know how to do the one thing that I find most important but I am going to cover it below. There has been discussion about keeping a log and while I do not keep a written log I do keep a "picture log" which tells me a great deal of information based on my data overlay info.

First thing we did after shooting some lead in clips was sling the net a few times (3 to be exact) and the bait is unbelievable with some of the biggest threadfin and bluebacks I have ever seen on Lanier. Check these out (note the overlay data on the screen as compared to other shots)...

Bait on structure scan in fairly muddy water...

Guys wanting to create and save pictures here are the steps to do that..

First hit menu 2X then go up to system...looks like this...

Then hit curser to right and go down to screen capture and hit enter...this will turn the ball blue which means you have enabled the function. Now every time you want to take a picture all you do is press the power button....

Carry a at least 1 gig SD card with you and when you start to leave the lake pull out any other SD cards and insert your "transfer card" into the reader slot. Then press pages and go to waypoints, files...looks like this...

Then go down to my files and hit enter then select screen shots...

On the HDS 8 and 10 it looks like this...

You should ideally now delete all on "My files" so next time you are starting fresh.

Note how I changed my over lay data position from earlier post to free up my view of my Structure Scan shots. These are a couple of other pictures that you might find interesting.

Open water bait...

Any way I thought you might find these interesting. For those looking for HDS and LSS units parts have arrived and units are starting to ship this week so the pipeline is starting to fill.

Hey I love fishing (don't worry my wife knows all too well wink ) and I love teaching what little I do know to others. As much as we all want to "protect" all of our "secrets" believe me when I say that only a hand full will actually remember tips in detail. Besides stripers are as unpredictable as a woman  Hanging with guys that love to fish and share their knowledge helps us all,,,,even those of us who are getting older and forgetful....who me????

Doing all of the Lowrance stuff that I have done for years, I realize just how few people know how to do the basic stuff with their electronics and this includes the pros. I hear guys all the time say "I don't need no GPS" or those that do have little to no waypoints on their machine. Taking the screen captures and adding those with camera pictures to a folder in Picasa is one of the most productive methods for keeping track of the what where and when that I know of....
