Pulled U-rids from 11 till 5 today and the schools were not nearly as active as previous weeks. Temps were 45 - 47 degrees. Most of the fish were holding at 40-50 feet off the edges. Had to drop the rig to 40 plus feet to get the first bite. Caught a couple more on structure (stumps and outcrops).

I ended up pulling trash around in my rigs twice and should have checked sooner but after I pulled through what I knew were fish and did not get bit both times I finally cleared them. I may have pulled the trash around for over an hour the first time. Live and
learn I guess.

Decent little 8 or 9 pounders both hit the 6in. shad on the chipmunk. Here are a couple of pics.

I picked up my 6 year old boy at noon and took him fishing. It made his day to "trick" the school.

Anyway, I forgot that Oakwood closes early on Monday. I pulled rigs for 5 hours and didn't get a single hit. There were a lot of fish and bait on the graph in both Balus and Flat.

The poor kid hasn't brought a fish in the boat yet. Every time I take him he gets skunked. It's getting kind of funny.

I have two boys and it is a lot of the same. I can can catch a lot of fish on the downline on Saturday, take them out on Sunday and never get a bite. It's life's lessons I think. Sometimes they suck.

How much line are you putting out to put a rig 40' down?

I'm not certain i follow you GaStratos. Are you dropping them straight down for 15-29 seconds and then putting it in gear, or do you mean that you are stopping your boat and letting your rigs drop when you see the fish? Thanks!
