Loc: Smyrna,
It was cold today and extremely windy. Water temp. was 43 degrees. Saw a lot of boats with not much action. We caught 1 that was 8lbs on a downlined trout in Flat Creek around 30feet. Had our BIG trout knocked out of the water a couple of times but no takers. We fished flat, balus and 6 mile creek. We marked the majority of our fish in the back of Flat but only ended up with one. Heard that someone had some luck on U-rigs but not sure were. Glad to get my first striper of the new year but wish it was the 30lb + I am looking for. I would post a pic. but I am sure most of you have seen a 8lb striper.

Tight Lines,

Brad

Congrats on the striper Brad. At least you got out there and enjoyed the outdoors smile

If I ever get a striper (on my own), its picture is getting posted on this board, regardless of size wink

Congrats Brad, It was tough out there today. I stopped by Oakwood Bait and loaded up then fished from seven to two today and only got one fish also. I stayed in Flat / Balus creek just about the whole day. I tried planers, freelines, and downlines with the downline paying off for me. Today was my first time fishing the Oakwood Striper Club tourney and that one fish got me a win. I could not believe it. Heres a pic of it.
