Got out on the pond around 8am after making a quick stop at Oakwood Bait & Tackle. The water temp was aound 47 and we were marking a lot of fish from 30-50 feet deep all morning. My brother and I pulled u-rigs all morning and we only caught some spotted bass. We change the depths of our u-rigs, the speed of the boat(2.5-4mph), and clipped many points with no luck for stripers. We even had two totally different u-rigs out at all times to increase our chance. We saw 2 well known guide services changing locations very often so it made me wonder if they were having the same bad luck as us. We are new to u-rigs and we tried to change up everything we knew to change. Does anyone know of anything wrong we could have been doing?

By the way, getting those u-rigs unsnagged from timber was very easy and only took a few seconds to do. Thanks to all the guys at the meeting. grin

Sounds like you did everything just right - the Stripers did not cooperate with you and a lot of other fishermen today. Don't let one bad fishing day affect your plans on the future use of the rigs.

If you were catching green fish, you were trolling the right colors/rigs/jigs at the proper depth! Alternating your trolling speed, using various trailers, etc. which is what you were doing, are all very good techniques.

Stay with the rigs - you will not be disappointed!
