I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the new structure scan from Lowrance? I havent heard a word about how it is. I also thought someone would have posted pics of structure and fish they have found with it.

I fished with mike mad on turkey day. They are pretty amazing, but will take some getting used to. I would hate to think about trying to look at all those split screens with anything smaller than the 10. I would recommend that anyone thinking if getting one save their nickels, dimes, 10's, 20's and 50's until they can afford the bid unit. It is hard to read the side scan if your running the 4 way split with side, down, gps, and sonar even on a 10, an 8 would be harder. Better break out some coke bottle glasses if your trying to read the 5 or 7.

I can for sure agree the 7 inch is not big enough. It also has less pixels which means a lot doesn't show up as well, I have found some fish using it but have also had couple days didn't catch any thing. Side scan on 7 inch hasn't helped me that much but the down scan does help confirm what is on bottom it does show a tree and you can count the branches. The bait balls some times look like you could count them to. All in all guess i need technology that will make them bite.

Thats pretty cool Southern 45. Thanks for the pics. Hopefully Santa will bring me one. That will be frustrating when you watch your bait go in front of there face. I like the down scan the best.

Hey fellas,

Has anyone with a pontoon thought about how to install this?

I already have the Stock Bracket on the left toon in use by the Sonar/GPS unit. The right toon has a ladder.

You need to mount them side by side, one on each pontoon would be a really bad idea, your DS and regular sonar would be way to far apart. The side scan td sticks put pretty far to get the SS feature. I would think a bracket that it 8-10" wide is all you would need to mount both. PM Carson and he can probably tell you the exact space needed.

I called lowrance and they told me to mount it on the jackplate. Any comments on that?

Went to BPS to check out the brackets on the toons and I talked to someone with a Tracker shirt and he laughed when I told him that lowracne told me to mount it on the jackplate. He said my pontoon doesnt have a jackplate. Since Im not even sure what that is, so Im not going to mount it there.

I actually called Ken Studivant since he has a pontoon and he stated when his 2 transducers were real close, his sonar had some feedback. I did not expect to hear that since both are using 2 different frequencies. He ended up making a bracket and now he says he has no issues..

I called Lowrance and seems everyone I talk to has a different story. I hear from 1 ft to not touching..

To be safe, I'm making a new transducer bracket to slip over and attach to the existing factory transducer bracket. In the end, both transducers will be about 4-6 inches apart.

Ill post some pictures here soon as I machine the mount.
