I joined the Army in April earlier this year and i leave for basic training in just a little longer than a month. I will be attending basic training at fort leonardwood in missouri. I was just wondering if any of you vets out there had any advice for me before i leave.

Keep that lip tucked, or you'll get it hung on a trip wire.

just rmember it is a little like a game. put up with their rules and don't try to convince anyone of your opinion. It's just a period of your life and it doesn't have to last forever. If you can see the end, it's easier to handle on a daily basis. God Bless and I appreciate what you are doing.

Basic will go by faster than you think. Breese is right, it's just a game. Keep a good attitude and do what you are told. You'll be proud of yourself when you are finished. Thank you for your service!

Go by the rules, be proud of what you do and we still have to get that fishing trip in when you get back. We are proud of you and what you are doing for our freedom. Thanks.

Just keep telling yourself that the fish will be there when you get back.

Take advantage of any education.

Make the best of long deployments, take lots of pics.

Use condoms, and don't get carried away with the tatoos.

Call and write you parents (I was horrible at this) , they worry about you.

lol ,thanks alot you guys better not catch all the fish while im gone. And since i still havent caught a striper yet there still better be some left so i can finally catch one

I think I can speak for most of us-- there's no danger of us catching them all while you're gone. Certainly my day out int he cold wind yesterday is proof of that.

Vance, my engine is still down, or i'd take you and we'd get on at least one. Maybe someone will offer to take you for a send-off striper trip. I know that there are a lot of generous guys on the board.

I spent 10 yrs in the Army and I am glad I did.

Like with anything in life, you get out what you put in.

I started as a E-1 then after hard work, college, etc, I came out as a 1st LT. Other bums who where in longer than me were still only E-5.

Remember, dont be first, and dont be last:)

Best advice I can give is to save your money while you are away...Everytime something looks good to buy, remember the striper
